@dudleydes - Have you tried the AdvMAME forums. It might be a long shot but it can't hurt to see if anyone has some suggestions. It sounds like AdvMAME is not doing some cleanup upon exit possibly? AdvMAME Support Forums

I recently bumped up to 3.5 and find it does has some issues that 1.4 doesn't have. I keep both loaded until 3.5 does some "optimizations".

Thank you both for all the information. Surprised that the performance hit is so pronounced. Will report back

update lr-mame2010 from source. that always gets you the latest (will take ~1hr+ to build on a pi3)

I think I might wait for the coming fixes to 2010 high scores that I hear is being looked into in the next couple weeks.

This discussion ( https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/16419/new-mame2010-folder-structure ) has me concerned about jumping on the latest 2010 just yet as well.

@zipfixer i don't really understand this rebooting thing, but the way to change aspect ratios for some/all systems is via https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor

note: this is only for libretro ("lr-") emulators, which are basically all the defaults for each system. for n64.. depends which n64 emulator you are using.

@BuZz Thanks again! Is it possible that the PSP emulation get much better over time?
      Also,
by setting this to fullscreen, will the performance drop? (Scaling Mode or Retroarch custom height and width)

Overhead? Sorry i cant understand can you elaborate further. English is not my native language

Not a problem. It really just means that it takes more processing power to run the exact same games in lr-mame2010 than it does in lr-mame2003. As a result, most games will run smoother in lr-mame2003.

@Thorr69 - Just to add to that I think the folder change was to correct a Retroarch Netplay issue and not so much of a core or RetroPie issue/change. If you're using an older version prior to 4.5 like 4.3 or 4.4 it will probably still use the old path unless your update RA then the new path will apply.

Well, I found the solution. And it had nothing to do with mupen :D Mupen uses a resolution of 640x480 and my TV-settings were configured to stretch 640x480 (4:3) to 16:9. Changing my settings to "4:3" fixed it. Also for usual 1920x1080 resolution it still keeps 16:9 aspect ratio.

Ah, that's good to know. Perhaps this whole thing would be better suited to the wiki than a certain default, given it's versatility.
